Welcome to my fishing update report

The Striped Bass showed up in mass, have not seen so many this early in the season. Also we are seeing a lot of Gannets close to shore, normally they appear in the Fall when the mackerel are close to shore migrating south. These are birds that dive bomb into the ocean from a hundred feet in the air to get their meal diving as deep as 60 feet.

Deep sea fishing for cod and haddock has been excellent with anglers catching mostly cod. We have had to pick our days, some days we could not get out to fish due to the weather, wind and high seas.

Going out on Monday to see if there are any mackerel and striped bass around. Heard that the mac's have just started to show.  There are plenty of small fish, great for fly fishing. If you tie small deceivers with weighted eyes, will do the trick.

Striped bass have arrived in force. Went out in the morning and put a few mackerel in the live well. Started trolling and bang two solid hook ups at the same time. Both fish were 36" long.

5/25/2010 Cod fishing trip

We had a great day on the ocean fishing for Cod and the men ended up with forty fish to take home for the freezer. Also had several Haddock.

5/29/2010

Took four sports out on a half day trip and they had done very well. The stripers were in the over 40" range, they kept two fish for fillets to have on the grill. They had caught several nice fish and released most.

6/2/2010

Just couldn't miss catching stripers on this nice morning.  The four people that had chartered the half day trip had a bonanza catching over a dozen fish all over 38", they couldn't believe the great day that they were having.

6/4/2010

Fishing for striped bass has been very exciting with a lot of big fish being taken. Today's charter of three people had caught seven fish in four hours of fishing, the size of the fish were between 40" - 47 inches. There are plenty of mackerel around that we use them for live bait.

6/7/2010

This cod fish charter with four people on board did very well limiting out with cod and several were over 20lbs. The fishing took place on Stellwagon Bank just twelve miles off our coast of which is loaded with sea life from cod, stripers, sharks to humpback whales feeding on sand eels.

Have been very busy with charters and haven't had time to write reports. Took out four regulars that come three to four times a year today. These guys always have fun fishing with no pressure to catch fish, just to have a good time. They each boarded fish and released four of the five fish caught.

6/28/2010

Offered to take along a person that is on a fishing website that I frequent. Sent him a private message about going and he accepted. Well, it turned out to be a great trip for him. We had caught five fish in an hour and a half. He had caught four of the five fish and the only reason that he did not catch the fifth fish was we had a double on at the same time and I had to take the second rod.

7/3/2010

My regulars showed up once again and I made believers out of them that it was better to troll then to be anchored. This morning out of the three fellas fishing two had all the glory. These are the guys that usually only keep one fish. The third guy was new and after keeping the first fish caught they were going to release the second fish when the new guy wanted to keep one, so now they had two keepers. After releasing the third and fourth fish the new guy wanted to know how many fish could be kept, which is two per person. Up comes the fifth striper  and the new guy still had not caught a fish he wanted to take home a second fish. As all three were discussing releasing the fish the new guy says, "I have one on the line," one person says he can keep the one he reels in and they released the newly caught fish, well, sure enough he lost the fish that he was reeling in and went home with the one striper.
